Are you new to UC? These are your next steps once you're fully enrolled.

Your next steps

Here's what you need to do next, now that you've completed your enrolment at UC:

Activate your IT account

Activate听your student IT account to give you access to听a number of online resources for students. Details on how to activate your account are sent to you听via email.听

Access your student email account

Your student email account听is active for the duration of your听time听at UC and is where communication from UC is sent during term time. You should be checking your student email account at least weekly.

Log in to LEARN

Log in to LEARN听and get acquainted with the portal听where course content and information will be. Your courses will be available on听LEARN听by the first day of the semester.

Create your personalised timetable

Create your personalised timetable听of lectures, tutorials and/or labs. You will be able to allocate yourself to streams for your enrolled courses once they're 'open for allocation' in My Timetable. If you are enrolled in Distance (D) courses you will not have a timetable for these courses.听

Get your Canterbury Card

Your Canterbury Card听(student ID card)听is your formal identification for around campus. It gives you access to buildings, library resources, UC Rec and Sport, UCSA membership, and can be used to pay for printing and photocopying and as proof of identity during examinations. If you are studying on campus you can get your Canterbury Card from the Security Office. If you are studying offshore, you can arrange for one to be sent to you.

Complete UC's new student orientation course

听is a comprehensive new online student orientation course, designed to set you up for a successful first semester at UC.听 It is available in both and听听(if you have yet to activate your IT account).听 Complete the course and go in the draw for several prizes!

Register for mentoring

Student mentors听volunteer their time to help you settle in during your first semester at UC. Your student mentor will be a student who has recently completed first year. They can answer your questions and help you settle into university life 鈥 from general study tips and great places to eat to where to go if you need support.

Book an appointment with a Kaitoko (First Year Student Advisor)

If you're in your first year at UC, you probably have questions about how everything works. Book an appointment with a Kaitoko for one-on-one advice and support.听

Attend UC Herea to waka | Welcome Day

If you're starting at UC in Semester One, you're invited to attend听Welcome Day. Taking place on the Friday before Semester One starts, it is a chance for all new students to come on campus, connect with their peers, and get amongst the UC community.听 There may be an additional Orientation programme for your chosen qualification听- details will be communicated via email.听

New international students - attend the international orientation day

If you're an international student who is new to campus, sign up for the International Welcome Orientation Day.听听
